The Smart Flyer Forum : Bridging Mass & Personalization

Date:
Oct 31, 2017
DELTA TORONTO HOTEL.
75 Lower Simcoe St, Toronto, ON M5J 3A6

Building off the success of RCC’s Retail Marketing Conference in April, Retail Council of Canada has
developed The Smart Flyer Forum. A special forum that will provide a deeper lens and more involved
discussion on an issue that has been top of mind of retail marketers for years: the future of the retail
marketing flyer.

At one time, many believed that social media & other digital & mobile marketing tools were going to
spell the end of the traditional print flyer as a marketing tool for retail. However, this hasn’t happened,
and in fact through improvements in distribution, innovations in digital & increasing flyer friendly mobile
platforms, flyers, catalogues, and other traditional marketing tools have lived on, and even thrived.

The Smart Flyer Forum: Bridging Mass & Personalization will provide three thought provoking sessions,
each bringing retailers, suppliers and experts together to focus on both the present and future of retail
flyer marketing.

The Smart Flyer Forum Sessions will include:

The Value of The Flyer in Today’s Digital World : A Consumer’s Perspective
The New Role of Flyers in Multi-Channel Campaigns
Enough Small Talk, What’s the Next Big Play for the Flyer

Speakers Will Include

Frederic Lecoq, Vice President Marketing & eCommerce, Golf Town
Lisa Orpen, VicePresident, National & Multi-Market Sales, Metroland Media
Catherine Viau, Sr. Marketing Manager, Maxi (Loblaw Companies Ltd.)
Howard Chang, CEO, Top Drawer Creative

You can register for the Smart Flyer Forum online or via fax. To register via fax, download the pdf and fax it to 877-790-4271 or mail it to 800-1881 Yonge Street, Toronto Ontario, M3S 3C4.

Beyond Big Data: Leverage Large-Scale Connections Webinar

Date:
Oct 4, 2017

Today’s CIOs and CTOs don’t just need to manage larger volumes of data – they need to generate insight from their existing data. In this case, the relationships between data points matter more than the individual points themselves. In order to leverage data relationships, organizations need a database technology that stores relationship information as a first-class entity. That technology is a graph database.

Attend this webinar to hear about:

  • Why graph technologies are essential for the future of increasingly connected data
  • How enterprises such Walmart, eBay, and UBS are using Neo4j’s native-graph platform for a diverse set of use cases, including security & fraud detection, real-time recommendation engines, master data and many more
  • And how Neo4j on IBM POWER8 can scale your massive graph data with real-time graph processing that’s entirely in-memory.
  • Better Data, Better Decisions – 1000x Faster with Neo4j.

About Diamond Gallery
Established in 1992 by Allan and Anita Malbranck, Winnipeg’s Diamond Gallery is dedicated to a world-class customer experience in crafting heirloom jewellery. They concentrate on hand crafting Canadian custom designs in 95% recycled gold and platinum fused with ethically sourced gemstones. In 2009 they erected what is believed to be North America’s first sustainable geo-thermal professional building to house a jewellery store. The innovative architectural space is well balanced by the family owned down to earth approach and old-fashion customer service. Proud to know most clients on a first name basis, the Malbrancks are humbled by their many client referrals and glowing reviews.  The Diamond Gallery was the first Canadian jewellery store featured as one of America’s Coolest jewellery stores in 2010, and was the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Independent Jeweller of the Year Award in 2013, in addition to other regional awards. www.diamond-gallery.com.

About the Malbranck Family
Co-owners Allan, Anita and Lisa Malbranck enthusiastically support their community by working with local charities and non-for-profit organizations. They support Winnipeg’s strong cultural and arts scene, have sat on local board of directors, and host in-store events such as an annual Mother’s Day infant formula drive. Daughter Lisa, third generation jeweller, is an advocate for supporting local storefronts – “Local shops and boutiques help contribute to the charm of what makes the many Winnipeg neighbourhoods unique” says Lisa Malbranck, who was listed as Manitoba’s 100 most fascinating people in 2015 and named in CBC Manitoba’s 40 under 40 in 2016.

Retailers Proud of Efforts to Enhance Welcoming Retail Environment For All Customers

March 27, 2017

Retail Council of Canada (RCC) was proud to join today with leaders in the African Nova Scotian community and the CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission to laud the continual efforts undertaken by retailers to enhance the welcoming nature of the Nova Scotia retail environment for all customers.

“The retail sector is one of the most competitive industries in the Canadian economy,” said Jim Cormier, Atlantic Director for the Retail Council of Canada.  “RCC members make extraordinary efforts to create a hospitable retail environment where all customers can feel comfortable and enjoy their retail experience.  For retail managers, communicating company values and practices to both front line retail staff and third party security providers can be challenging due to employee turnover.  As a result, retailers are vigilant in ensuring that when they are contracting security firms or hiring, training and developing retail employees, they do so in a manner that enhances this positive retail customer experience,” noted Cormier.

Given the commitment of RCC members to welcome all customers, the Nova Scotia retail sector was deeply concerned by complaints of consumer racial profiling against retail businesses in the province.  On behalf of Nova Scotia retailers, RCC reached out to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission (NSHRC) to discuss ways in which the two organizations could work together and enhance the customer experience.  The NSHRC responded proactively by consulting RCC on the development of its consumer racial profiling training course and publicity materials.

“Retailers appreciate the steps taken by the NSHRC to work collaboratively with RCC in developing the online training course dealing with consumer racial profiling,” emphasized Cormier. “Although most retailers already have robust training programs in place, retailers welcome this NSHRC initiative.  RCC is confident that the online course will provide yet another educational opportunity for retail employees and third party service providers to better understand the shopping experience for Nova Scotians from all different backgrounds.  Retailers value their customers and thus they will continue to lead and collaborate with stakeholders like the NSHRC to enhance the retail experience for everyone in the retail environment,” concluded Cormier.
