Dr. Rob Buckman’s Last Hurrah

Syndicated from: Steve Paikin

We'll talk about cancer tonight on The Agenda. In fact, we'll talk about many of the almost 200 different types of cancers that human beings can be afflicted with. But with no disrespect to any of the other guests on the program, I'm going to remember tonight's episode for one reason and one reason only: it's Dr. Robert Buckman's final appearance on Canadian television. Dr. Rob, as you now know, taped tonight's program last week, then immediately hopped a flight to London.  On his return flight, he died in his sleep of causes still unknown at age 63. Dr. Rob never failed to make our programs better. He educated us. He made us laugh. And even when other guests disagreed with him, he was just so irresistably wonderful, he was hard to be mad at. All of Dr. Buckman's appearances on The Agenda can be found here. A lovely, short retrospective of his appearances, edited by Marisa Gatto, can be found here.
