Fall Drive donations are slow

Syndicated from: Daily Bread Food Bank

With just ten days to go until the Fall Drive ends on October 14th, only $87,000 and 38,000 pounds of food has been raised so far. “We’re looking to raise $400,000 and 400,000 pounds of food so we are way behind,” said Gail Nyberg, executive director at Daily Bread Food Bank. “I’m hoping that with the Thanksgiving weekend coming up, people will remember that there are many people – including neighbours, friends and co-workers – who are struggling to make ends meet. There are families in Toronto who can’t afford to provide a Thanksgiving meal for their children and these are the people that your donation will help.” Tomorrow Daily Bread will be onsite with Citytv’s Breakfast Television at the Loblaws at 380 The East Mall starting at 5:30 a.m. in the morning. We will be collecting donations all day long, so please drop by to say hi to the BT crew (and us) as well as CityNews later on in the afternoon. The Fall Drive runs through to October 14th. Donations can be made securely, online at www.dailybread.ca or by calling 416-203-0050. Cheques can be mailed to Daily Bread Food Bank at 191 New Toronto Street, Toronto ON M8V 2E7. Drop off nutritious, non-perishable food at any fire hall throughout the year or any local Loblaws, Loblaws Great Food, valu-mart, nofrills or Real Canadian Superstore as well as participating grocery stores. Most needed food items include: baby formula and food; peanut butter; canned fruit or vegetables; canned fish or meat; dried pasta and tomato sauce; powdered, canned or tetra pak cartons of milk; macaroni and cheese; bags of rice; cans of lentils and beans; hearty soup or stew and bags of lentils.
