How to focus on what matters: a date to consider

Syndicated from: Box of Crayons

Today’s the anniversary of my death. 2043′s the year, and seeing this pop up every day on September 15 concentrates my mind wonderfully on what I’m working on and how I’m spending my time. With my latest Great Work Project, End Malaria, in its final stages, I’m now trying to move from … hard concentration to soft awareness completion to possibilities grind to play focus to distraction … as a way of finding the next thing I want to really work on. (I’m reading Clay Shirky’s Cognitive Surplus, Jane McGonigal’s Reality Is Broken, Jeff Klein’s Working for Good and Ruth Padel’s 52 Ways of Looking at a Poem as ways of letting a little provocation and inspiration in.) How about you? How do you remind yourself of what really matters?
