Thank you, Team Daily Bread runners!

Syndicated from: Daily Bread Food Bank

Thank you to all the runners who ran the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM) on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in support of Team Daily Bread! On Friday and Saturday at the Runner’s EXPO, Daily Bread staff and volunteers met many runners, and were able to share information about the great work Daily Bread is doing in this community. This unique opportunity would not have been possible without the support of our friends Dave Chaundry-Smart, Andre Cheuk, and Gus Alexandropoulos at Canadian Running Magazine, who allowed us to partner with them at their EXPO booth. A huge thanks to the Canadian Running Magazine team for getting the word out that people could support Team Daily Bread during the run. Over $9000 has been raised, but pledges are still coming in. Donations for Daily Bread through Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon can be made until October 29. To make a donation, please click here. Special thanks to our top fundraiser Daniel Iny, who raised over $4000. Daniel ran the half marathon, and placed 1328 with a time of 1:47:51! If you participated in the STWM and raised funds for Daily Bread, we invite you to learn how your efforts are helping fight hunger in Toronto’s neighbourhoods. A guided tour of Daily Bread Food Bank will take place this Friday, October 19 from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at our 191 New Toronto Street location. Also, gift bags will be distributed to those who have raised $150+. To RSVP, please contact or call 416-203-0050 ext. 299. We look forward to welcoming you to Daily Bread Food Bank! Daily Bread will be a participating charity at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon again next year. Whether it’s the 5K, half, or full marathon, mark your calendar and making running the STWM for Daily Bread your goal on October 20, 2013. Next year’s race is going to be bigger and better than ever. And most importantly, you’ll feel good knowing that you’re helping to chase away hunger… one step at a time.
